The Dyneema or Kevlar would flex with the initial hit, passing energy into the duct seal. Metal plate needed only for safety. After shooting a bunch of rounds, the Dyneema/Kevlar should hopefully be intact, and the duct seal could be squished back into shape, after which you start over with a 'new' back stop.

Jul 02, 2011· Dyneema uses a high density extremely long molecule (high molecular weight) polyethylene that is lighter (lighter than water even), but isn't as heat resistant. Kevlar and Twaron are polyaramid fibers, which do have better heat resistance in general, still provide excellent protection, but it is a bit more dense.
